Speed And More With SSD

When Speed is increased in computers, its usually from adding
a faster Processor or more memory. Things are about to change for the better for computing. There is a new hard drive being produced right now, by many manufacturers, called the solid state drive. This new hard drive will come with new speed and a lot more. Samsung is among one of these manufacturers. They are producing right now a 256 Gigabyte solid state drive.
with a sequential read rate of 220MB/s (megabytes per second) and sequential write rate of 200MB/s. The write rate of standard hard drives, from a wide variety of manufacturers vary from 36 mega byte per second to the fastest 101 megabytes per second for write speed. The read speeds of the standard hard drives varies from the slowest 42 mega bytes per second to 127 megabytes per second
for the fastest. So as you can see, there is a very good speed increase from the solid state drives, compared to a standard hard drive. There are more improvements also,such as less power requirements. The new solid state drives will be more vibration resistant,and can operate at more extreme temperatures, then their older hard drive cousins. The boot up times will be about twice as fast, as the older hard drive cousin. Read speeds will be at least double.
The Solid State Drives will continue to increase in size and performance. So increasing your computers speed can be just as easy as upgrading your hard drive. More speed and more are here today in solid state drives. With a boot up speed increase, and reading and writing data increase. With less power requirements, and longer life its easy to be a top choice for new computer builds. |
