Removing a Program from Windows Startup

By Larry Miller

Sometimes you install a software program, and then decide
you no longer wish for it to startup with windows. Say its misbehaving or just causes a slowdown on your computer.

There are many ways to stop it without uninstalling. right clicking on the icon item in your taskbar (the bottom right area of your computer) will usually give you this option, just find the preferences section and un check startup with windows.

A lot of times this will not work, so you have to resort to another method. If the case is its misbehaving or causing a slowdown your best bet is to uninstall it.

Since this article is about removing a program from windows startup lets show the best procedure to do this. Some websites tell you to use msconfig by typing it in to your run box under the start menu. this is not the best method which can cause more problems then it is worth. These methods I will tell you are good for windows 98 ME 2000 NT or XP.

The first thing is to install codestuff starter 5.6 2.8 you can download from the external link to open it in a new tab just right click it and in the menu just click open in new tab.

After you have downloaded before installing, I recommend you do a right context menu scan with your antvirus software just to be sure its safe,to do this go to the file you downloaded, I keep mine in a folder called downloads.

Next right click the file startersetup you will get the context menu screen then scroll down or up to scan with your antivirus when it checks ok you are ready to install.

When you first run click on the above button startups it should be on the left side at the top of the screen.
Then find the program you do not want to startup with windows anymore and just uncheck it from its box, thats it.

Then all you have to do is restart your computer and presto it will no longer startup with windows. There are way more you can do with this free software, you can check the processes that are running and the services.

There are even some good resources in the help section of the program. With this program if you want the program to start back with windows just put in the check in its box and close codestuffstarter its that simple.

This is a easy way to slim down your startup also, to get an increase in speed and memory, from cutting back on the files loading at windows startup.
